Hi everyone,
Do you remember my last Etude House Pink Box review where was featured their fall makeup collection, Pink Skull? I also included a review of their Play 101 Stick Contour Duo. If you missed it, you can click HERE.
So today I'm back with the second part of the review of this Pink Box and this includes the skincare portion of the box: the collaboration between Etude House and Disney - Dumbo!
For this collaboration, Etude House revamped the packaging of their bestseller line, the Moistfull Collagen line! The products are the same as the ones from their regular line, it's just the packaging that has changed.
The Etude x Dumbo collaboration includes:
Moistfull Collagen Mask Sheet
Moistfull Collagen Facial Stick
Moistfull Collagen Essence
Moistfull Collagen Cream in jumbo format
Moistfull Collagen Cream Jumbo
This cream is one of Etude House's best seller. The Moistfull Collagen line is very popular and that's probably why they chose it for this collaboration with Dumbo.
The packaging is really huge, it contains 110mL (vs 75mL in the regular version).
CLAIMS:
"Small Super Collagen water particles in the Moistfull cream always keep your skin hydrated and leave your skin feeling like jelly. While this cream is soft, its contact on your skin is firm and hydrates your skin all day, leaving your skin healthy. "
HOW IT LOOKS/FEELS/SMELLS:
The Moistfull collagen cream has a lightweight cream-gel texture that is easy to spread. It is absorbed quickly and doesn't leave sticky residues (maybe unless you use a ton of it). It leaves the skin feeling super moist. It definitely looks more hydrated and plump.
It has a flowery scent that is not too strong but it's still quite noticeable. It doesn't linger. I personally don't mind it and now I've associated this scent with "it's time to go to bed" because I apply it as a sleeping mask before going to sleep.
HOW TO USE IT:
Use it as your last skincare step, apply the appropriate amount onto the face and massage from the center, out. Then with the left over moisture, gently pat it in.
You can use it both AM and PM. I use it only PM because in the morning I perfer using a fluid emlusion as my moisturizer instead of creams, but I think it should play OK with makeup.
The cream comes with a spatula to dispense the product.

INGREDIENTS:
Hydrolyzed Collagen (humectant, moisturizer), Butylene Glycol (humectant, solvant, decrease viscosity), Cyclopentasiloxane (a silicone, emollient), Glycerin (humectant), Cyclohexasiloxane (a silicone, emollient), Glyceryl Polymethacrylate (film former, viscosity control), Hydrogenated Lecithin (emulsifier), Cetearyl Alcohol (emollient), Adansonia Digitata (baobab) Fruit Extract, Adansonia Digitata (baobab) Seed Oil, Betaine (humectant, anti-irritant), kaolin, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate (emollient, emulsifier), Pca Dimethicone, Dimethiconol, Glyceryl Stearate, Sodium Polyacrylate, Stearic Acid, Silica, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/Vp Copolymer, Poloxamer 407, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Phytantriol, Ppg-5-Laureth-5, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Alcohol, Water, Disodium Edta, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance
THOUGHTS:
The 2 main ingredients advertized by Etude House are Hydrolyzed Collagen and Baobab Oil. Looking at the ingredient list, you can seee that both ingredients are indeed present and in non negligible quantity.
Collagen - I like that Etude House advertizes this cream as a moisturizer boost for your skin (becasue this is what it is) and doesn't rely on the collagen to make us think that the collagen contained in the cream could help you rebuild your collagen stock. I wanted to write a summary of collagen in skincare products but one of my favorite bloggers, Jerlene of Musicalhouses, wrote a detailed article about collagen so I'll link to her post. So as she said, collagen in creams will not help replace your skins collagen but it is used as an humectant and this helps to moisturize your skin. So simply said, you can see it as a product that will help moisturize the skin.
Baobab (Adansonia Digitata) - This cream contains fruit and seed extracts of baobab.
Its fruit pulp has very high vitamin C content (~ ten times that of orange). Seeds contain appreciable quantities of protein, digestible carbohydrates, oil, and minerals. They are especially protein- and oil-rich. It has been demonstrated that several plant parts of the tree have interesting anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties (general review of the use of baobab). Thanks to the high vitamin C contain of the fruits and the emollient oils of the seeds, baobab seems a really intersting ingredient although I haven't find scientific reports about the topical application of baobab extracts (not exactly true I find a few about the seed oil but they didn't seem very relevant). In Africa, some baobab preparations are traditionally used to sooth skin and make it smooth.

The other ingredients of the cream are emollients and functional ingredients (to fine tune the viscosity, some emulsifiers to help mix the water and oil phases of the cream, etc).
So this is a great moisturizing cream that can work for a large range of skintype considering it's lightweight. Dry skin will beneficiate from an additional moisturizer.
For my personal experience with the Moistfull Collagen Cream, I've been using it since I received it at the begining of September and really enjoyed using it so far. Most of the time, I don't use creams because they tend to break me out (I prefer layering many light products, hello first essence, toner and serums) but this one didn't cause any issue for me, probably because it's lightweight due to the gel texture. Also a little goes a long way, you only need a small amount to moisturize your whole face and neck. Typically I like using it at night as a sleeping mask (I have combo to normal skin) but you can also use it in the morning as your last skincare step. As soon as I apply it, it leaves my skin moisturized and feeling happy. I can really feel the "moist" factor of it. And as a bonus I wake up with smooth and perfectly hydrated skin. I doesn't make me feel oily when I wake up. So honestly I'm pleasantly surprised with it and will continue using it every night!
Would I recommend it? Yes, if you are looking for a moisture bomb and don't mind the added fragrance in it, it's a great moisturizing cream that should work for combo to dry skin.
Moistfull Collagen Sheet Mask
I'm a sucker for sheet masks. They are so perfect to relax and give a moisturizing boost to your skin!
Just as for your the cream, Etude House has revamped the packging of their Moistfull Collagen sheet mask for this special collaboration with Dumbo and honestly, it's beyond cute! :D
The mask is made of a rather thick cotton and is soaked in essence. Unexpectedly there is a protective layer on the mask (like you have for hydrogel masks). I've never seen that for cotton sheet masks, that's why I was a bit surprised. There is a lot of essence trapped in the mask, I wore it for about 40 min before it was dry.
I think it's nicely formulated for a sheet mask with a great ingredient list (see below) and no alcohol or irritant at the top of the list. There is citrus extract and fragrance so take note of it if you're sensitive to them but otherwise I don't think this should be such an issue here.
So yep, definitely a good sheet mask that I would recommend and use again!
